I'm Brendan O'Keefe, and AI is the latest in a long line of technological waves I've worked through. In the mid-eighties I was a teenager with a keyboard, a synth and a computer, sequencing music I never learned to play formally. By 1989 I had a record contract and singles out in Australia. The lesson was never the singing. It was the automation.
Then the internet arrived and I was one of the first in Melbourne building websites. I built for a Sydney 3D startup, ran my own web business making WordPress and SMS tools for community organisations, worked as a youth worker, and spent ten years at Mental Health First Aid International helping take a global mission online as e-learning.
When ChatGPT landed it felt bigger than the internet moment. I started my own business, built six niche apps for parents of neurodiverse children mostly on free tiers (that is the orchestrator trick), and now I coach and build AI orchestration for local businesses, professionals and families.
The title is new. The job isn't. Thirty-five years of taking the newest tools of the day and arranging them into something useful, with human judgment in the loop. I build with this stuff every day, and I teach exactly what I use.
